Guided Learning Hours - 40.   Total Qualification Time - 130.  You have up to 6 months to complete the Access Course.

Course Fee

£499.00.  Can be paid in full with 10% discount, or in three monthly payments of £166.33.

Course Content

The Level 3 Health Coach Access Course is structured into twelve comprehensive lessons that introduce learners to the principles, skills, ethics and behavioural science underpinning modern health coaching. Each lesson builds progressively, helping learners develop confidence before moving into skills practice and assessed consultations. Content includes the following key study areas:

  • An introduction to contemporary health coaching, personalised care, the coaching attitude and the difference between coaching, advising and counselling

  • Core coaching principles including collaboration, strengths-based practice, readiness, responsibility and holistic thinking, with applied case reflections

  • Evidence-based coaching models such as EPPE, Motivational Interviewing, scaling, goal-setting and reframing, with practical exercises for real-world use

  • Development of core coaching skills including empathy, non-judgment, active listening, questioning, affirmations and structuring a coaching conversation

  • Understanding GDPR, consent, confidentiality, data protection and ethical responsibility in a coaching context, including common breach scenarios and safe practice strategies

  • Duty of care, evidence-based information, safe boundaries and how to share health information using autonomy-supportive communication methods

  • Recording, monitoring and evaluating coaching outcomes using qualitative and quantitative data, supported by guided note-writing and service-evaluation tasks

  • Exploration of the wider determinants of health and how social, environmental and economic factors shape wellbeing and behaviour patterns

  • Understanding health inequalities, local policies, deprivation indicators and how to interpret simple public-health data to support equitable coaching practice

  • Examination of common health behaviours and their links to mental and physical wellbeing, alongside the Five Ways to Wellbeing and local health-improvement services

  • Behaviour-change theories including COM-B, the Transtheoretical Model, the Health Belief Model and different types of brief interventions, with applied scenario work

  • Motivational techniques, the spirit and processes of Motivational Interviewing, working with ambivalence, supporting readiness
