Beth Tennant
Student Support and Assessor Lead
Beth Tennant is Student Support and Assessor Lead at Active Health Group, playing a central role in guiding learners throughout their training journey. With a professional background in nursing, clinical therapy, and education, she combines strong clinical knowledge with a calm and supportive approach to student care. Alongside teaching advanced clinical skills, Beth oversees safeguarding and student support, ensuring learners feel confident, supported, and able to succeed throughout their studies.
Background and Experience
Beth is known for wearing many hats across the organisation — Tutor, Lead Assessor, Safeguarding Lead, Student Support Lead, and member of the senior management team. Despite the variety of roles she holds, her focus has always remained consistent: supporting students with patience, professionalism, and genuine care.
Beth’s journey into healthcare began early in life, inspired by her father’s career as an RAF nurse. This early exposure to clinical environments sparked a lasting fascination with anatomy and patient care, leading her to train at Manchester University, where she completed her Diploma in Professional Studies in Nursing and gained registration as an adult nurse.
Her early career in operating theatres allowed her to develop strong clinical skills and a deep appreciation for the structure and function of the human body. It was during this time that her love of anatomy truly flourished — a passion that continues to shape her teaching today.
From Nursing to Integrative Therapy
Never one to stand still professionally, Beth later retrained with Active Health Group as an Advanced Clinical Sports Therapist, building a successful clinical practice rooted in integrative health principles. She went on to complete a Level 6 Masters Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy, followed by further training in Health Coaching and Nutritional Therapy at Level 6.
Alongside her teaching work, Beth continues to run her own clinical practice, supporting clients with a wide range of therapies including manual lymphatic drainage, myofascial techniques, postural assessment, and medical acupuncture. Her clinical interests include oncology-informed practice, lymphatic health, and trauma-informed approaches to physical recovery.
Her fascination with clinical anatomy — particularly the elegant logic of how the body adapts and heals — remains one of her greatest passions, both in practice and in the classroom.
Supporting Students Every Step of the Way
Within Active Health Group, Beth plays a central role in supporting students from the moment they begin their training through to qualification and beyond. As Student Support and Assessor Lead, she provides practical guidance, reassurance, and structured support, helping learners navigate both academic requirements and personal challenges.
Her responsibilities include overseeing safeguarding procedures, supporting student welfare, and ensuring that learners have access to the help they need throughout their studies. Many students come to see Beth as a trusted and familiar point of contact — someone who understands both the pressures of training and the realities of clinical practice.
In her role as Lead Assessor, Beth ensures that assessment standards are applied consistently and fairly, supporting learners to demonstrate competence while maintaining professional expectations.
Her calm, organised approach and strong communication skills make her an essential part of the learning environment, particularly for students who may feel uncertain or overwhelmed during their studies.
Teaching Clinical Skills and Practical Understanding
Beth teaches a range of advanced clinical skills across Active Health Group programmes, including medical acupuncture, manual lymphatic drainage, oncology-informed techniques, and clinical rehabilitation approaches. She has taught Level 4, Level 5, and Level 6 learners, supporting practitioners in developing safe and effective clinical skills.
She is particularly passionate about helping students understand anatomy not simply as theory, but as something living and dynamic — a foundation for safe and confident practice.
In 2025, Beth shared her clinical expertise as a guest speaker at both the Manchester Macmillan Nurse Conference and Active Health Group’s 25th Anniversary Conference, reflecting her recognised expertise within oncology-informed and lymphatic care.
A Practical, Curious Approach to Learning
Beth’s philosophy has always been grounded in curiosity and continuous learning. Throughout her career, she has embraced new opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills, believing that professional development should remain an ongoing process rather than a fixed destination.
Her experience in nursing, clinical therapy, education, and safeguarding allows her to support students with a balanced perspective — combining compassion with professional structure.
Within Active Health Group, she is widely respected for her reliability, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to student welfare.
