Level 3 Men's Health and Wellbeing Coaching Course
Train to Support Men's Health with Confidence, Clarity and Professional Integrity
Men's health is in crisis — and the evidence is hard to ignore. Men in the UK die almost four years earlier than women on average. They account for three quarters of all premature deaths from heart disease. Suicide remains the single biggest killer of men under 50. And yet, men are significantly less likely to seek help, attend health appointments, or speak openly about what they are experiencing.
Health coaches who understand this landscape are not simply useful. They are needed.
The Level 3 Men's Health and Wellbeing Coaching Course from Active Health Group, developed in association with leading men's charity Mentell, is a structured, evidence-informed programme designed for practitioners, support workers, fitness professionals, and anyone who wants to make a real difference to the health of the men in their care. It combines professional coaching skills with specialist knowledge of male health, behaviour change science, and ethical practice — giving you a confident, practical foundation to begin supporting male clients from the moment you complete your training.
Whether you are starting your coaching journey or adding men's health to an existing professional role, this course provides the knowledge, tools, and confidence you need.
Who This Course Is For
This course is designed for anyone who works with or alongside men and wants to support their health more effectively. It is particularly well suited to personal trainers and fitness professionals, community and voluntary sector workers, mental health and support workers, sports coaches, health and wellbeing practitioners, and individuals with a personal or professional interest in men's health.
No previous coaching qualification is needed. The programme builds from foundational principles through to applied men's health coaching practice, making it accessible regardless of your starting point.
What This Course Covers
The programme combines two areas of learning: professional coaching skills and specialist men's health knowledge.
On the coaching side, you will develop active listening, motivational interviewing, powerful questioning, behaviour change skills, goal setting and accountability frameworks, and a thorough grounding in professional ethics, safeguarding, and scope of practice.
On the men's health side, you will explore the conditions, risk factors, and behavioural patterns most relevant to male clients in the UK, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, prostate health, mental health and suicide awareness, alcohol-related health risks, lung cancer, osteoporosis, sports injuries, and hernias. You will also explore male physiology, hormonal vitality, nutrition for men's health, sleep and recovery, stress resilience, and the social and psychological factors that shape how men engage with their health.
All content is grounded in UK data and aligned with NHS and national public health guidance.
The Skills That Make the Difference
Effective men's health coaching is built on trust, skilled communication, and a genuine understanding of how men experience and engage with health. Throughout this programme you will develop the practical skills that make real coaching conversations possible — the ability to meet a male client where he is, without judgement, and support him in taking meaningful steps towards lasting change.
You will learn how to work with resistance, strengthen motivation, and help clients build the habits that sustain health improvement beyond the coaching relationship. These are the skills that transform knowledge into impact.
Practical Resources Included
As part of the programme you will receive a full suite of professional coaching resources including client intake and assessment forms, coaching and confidentiality agreements, session planning templates, progress tracking tools, and goal-setting worksheets. Real coaching session demonstrations and motivational interviewing examples bring the learning to life and prepare you for practice from day one.
