Background and Experience

With over three decades of experience in the health and fitness industry, Nikki has built her career around helping people understand the body, move beyond pain, and develop confidence in their physical capabilities. Her background spans fitness, sports therapy, rehabilitation, and education, providing her with a broad and practical understanding of how the body functions under stress, injury, and recovery.

Nikki began her career within the fitness industry, working as a group exercise instructor before progressing into leadership and management roles. Over time, she developed a strong interest in injury rehabilitation and physical therapy, leading her to pursue advanced qualifications in sports therapy, rehabilitation, and clinical techniques.

Her academic background includes a First Class BA (Hons) in Sport and Leisure Management from the University of Central Lancashire, alongside extensive professional qualifications in sports therapy, rehabilitation, and clinical education.

This combination of academic learning and hands-on clinical work shaped her practical and solution-focused approach to both treatment and teaching.

Clinical Practice and Pain-Focused Work

Alongside her educational work, Nikki maintains an active clinical practice through her therapy business, supporting clients with injuries, pain management, and functional rehabilitation. Her clinical work includes guiding individuals through strengthening exercises, corrective movement strategies, and rehabilitation techniques designed to support recovery and long-term resilience.

She specialises in working with persistent pain and functional dysfunction, with a strong interest in helping the body reset and regulate the nervous system so that movement becomes more efficient and less restricted.

A key principle that underpins her work is the belief that the body has a powerful ability to heal when underlying causes are identified and addressed. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Nikki encourages both clients and students to consider the wider picture — understanding how posture, movement, stress, and lifestyle contribute to long-term outcomes.

Teaching, Assessment, and Quality Assurance

Teaching and education have formed a central part of Nikki’s professional life for many years. She has worked extensively across colleges, training providers, and professional environments, delivering education in fitness, sports therapy, and rehabilitation-based disciplines.

Her experience includes working as a Tutor, Assessor, and Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), supporting programmes from Level 2 through to advanced practitioner-level qualifications. She has delivered training across multiple subject areas, including personal training, sports massage, and sports therapy, while also overseeing assessment quality and ensuring compliance with awarding body standards.

Within previous leadership roles, Nikki has managed curriculum delivery, mentored teaching staff, and monitored learner progress to ensure that education remains structured, effective, and consistent.

As an IQA, she plays an essential role in maintaining professional standards across programmes. Her work includes supporting assessors, reviewing learner evidence, and ensuring that assessment decisions are fair, accurate, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Her strong attention to detail and commitment to quality make her a trusted source of guidance for both learners and tutors.

Supporting Practitioner Confidence

One of Nikki’s greatest strengths as an educator lies in her ability to translate theory into practical understanding. She believes that learning should be active, hands-on, and grounded in real-world application.

Her teaching style focuses heavily on experiential learning, encouraging students to feel, observe, and understand what is happening within the body rather than relying solely on theoretical knowledge. Supporting learners as they gain confidence in their practical skills is something she finds deeply rewarding.

She is particularly passionate about helping students develop the confidence to trust their observations and apply their knowledge safely in real-world practice.

Professional Leadership and Educational Development

Throughout her career, Nikki has contributed to programme development, staff mentoring, and educational leadership. Her work has included developing curriculum structures, overseeing programme delivery, and supporting new teaching staff as they grow into their roles.

Her experience working with awarding bodies, educational institutions, and training organisations has given her a strong understanding of the importance of quality assurance within professional education.

Within Active Health Group, Nikki contributes to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that learners receive consistent, high-quality training experiences.
