Sports Therapy and Sports Massage Courses

We currently offer Level 4 Sports Massage, and Level 5 Clinical Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Sports therapy is a branch of healthcare that focuses on the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries related to athletic and physical activity. The aim of sports therapy is to help individuals recover from sports-related injuries and to improve their athletic performance.

Sports therapists use a range of techniques, including exercise therapy, manual therapy, rehabilitation, and injury prevention programs, to help individuals manage pain, reduce inflammation, improve range of motion and flexibility, and regain strength. They may also provide advice on nutrition, hydration, and other lifestyle factors that can impact athletic performance and recovery from injury.

Sports therapy can benefit athletes of all levels, from amateur recreational players to professional athletes, as well as anyone who engages in physical activity. The goal is to help individuals return to their activities as soon as possible, while minimising the risk of re-injury.

Sports massage is a type of therapeutic massage that specifically focuses on the needs of athletes and physically active individuals. The goal of sports massage is to help improve athletic performance, prevent injury, and enhance recovery from physical activity.

Sports massage typically uses a combination of techniques such as effleurage (long, gliding strokes), petrissage (kneading and lifting), friction (targets specific areas with deep pressure), and tapotement (quick tapping or percussive movements). These techniques can be used to address specific issues such as muscle tightness, increased range of motion, reduced swelling and inflammation, and improved circulation.

In addition to providing therapeutic benefits, sports massage can also help athletes mentally prepare for competition by promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. It is commonly used by professional athletes and sports teams, but can also be beneficial for anyone engaging in physical activity, including weekend warriors and fitness enthusiasts.
